Tango Mundo Championships - Divisions & Categories


Salon Tango will offer four (4) divisions:

Professional – Dancers who have been paid to teach or perform
Amateur – Dancers who have not received payment to teach or perform
Pro/Am – A professional (dancer/instructor) and an amateur (student/dancer)
Over 55 Amateur – Dancers over the age of 55 who have not been paid to perform or teach.


Stage Tango will offer two (2) divisions:

Qualifying Rounds - Friday, June 17                  6:00 – 8:00 PM
All competitors must be registered by 5PM and present by 6PM in the ballroom to qualify. 
Salon Tango: Couples will dance up to 3 times to music selected by the judges.
Stage Tango: Couples will dance one time to their own music for their choreographed routine. The routine may not exceed 4 minutes. All music must be submitted in a CD format and sumbitted to the Bernard Martinez by 5PM, Friday, 6/17/11. All CDs will be returned to each competitor.

Semi-Finals - Saturday, June 18            5:00 – 6:30 PM
All qualified competitors must be present by 4:30PM in the ballroom to qualify.  
Salon Tango: Couples will dance up to 3 times to music selected by the judges.
Stage Tango: Couples will dance one time to their own music for their choreographed routine. The routine may not exceed 4 minutes. If the music is different from the qualifying round, competitors must submit the CD to Bernard Martinez by 4PM.

Finals - Sunday, June 19               6:00 – 7:30 PM
All qualified competitors must be present by 5:30PM in the ballroom to qualify.

Stage Tango: Couples will dance one time to their own music for their choreographed routine. The routine may not exceed 4 minutes. If the music is different from the qualifying round or semi-finals, competitors must submit the CD to Bernard Martinez by 5PM.

We have established a minimum requirement of registered couples to validate the competition in each category and division:

Salon Tango – Professional:  A minimum of 10 registered couples
Salon Tango – Amateur:  A minimum of 20 registered couples
Salon Tango – Pro/Am:  A minimum of 10 registered couples
Salon Tango – Over 55 Amateur:  A minimum of 6 registered couples

Stage Tango  – Pro/Am:  A minimum of 10 registered couples
Stage Tango  – Amateur:  A minimum of 10 registered couples

All fees are non-refundable unless minimum number of qualifying competitors are not met.
